How We Choose Products
The process behind every BeautyFounded guide: search research, listing-by-listing reading, attributed brand claims and a separate accuracy review before publishing.
1. We start with what people search for
Every guide starts with a real search question — "best tubing mascara", "how to use dry shampoo" — so we cover what readers are actually trying to decide.
2. We read the listings, not the hype
We search Amazon's beauty departments, set aside sponsored placements, and open the listings that look like real contenders. For each one we record the title, the seller line, the feature bullets, the description and the rating exactly as shown.
3. Three picks, three different jobs
Each guide recommends exactly three products, and each one earns a distinct role — a best overall, a pick for sensitive eyes, a pick for oily skin. Ratings matter, and so does the number of ratings behind them, but a pick also has to be sold through a seller we can name and backed by a listing that makes sense.
4. Claims are attributed, never upgraded
If a brand claims a benefit, we say it's the brand's claim. If a listing contradicts itself, we show both statements. Facts that don't come from a listing — in our explainers — come from named sources like the American Academy of Dermatology, which we link at the bottom of the page.
5. Every page is reviewed before it goes live
Before publishing, each page goes through a separate review against our listing notes and sources, and anything that can't be traced gets cut or rewritten.
